Your Spiked Cranberry Friday Shot newsletter.
Dear agency enthusiasts and lovers of brown paper packages tied up with strings.
This week is a shot designed to use that sad bottle of Fireball that somehow ended up in your desk drawer or lies hidden in Agency somewhere. It’s been there for three years. It’s dusty. It’s disgusting.
But it’s gonna knock your team’s socks off and have you singing like Julie Andrews and belting out “My Favorite Things” like a lunatic. Reminds me of that time I did the Sound of Music Tour with a way too over the top tour guide.
The recipe:
1 oz Fireball
1 oz Cranberry
Shaken with ice and strained.
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here’s 5 things to keep you entertained on the blackest of Fridays.
1. Greased Sleigh-Ridin’ is everything
I know John Travolta has played a Capital One Santa for a few years. But this Grease-themed version really takes the cake. You could be a writer for 50 years and never experience the joy of crafting this gem: “Why this sleigh could be frost-o-matic...tinsel-matic...1.5% cash back-o-matic.”
2. It’s Advertising, actually
I would call this almost a win. I mean, I got that it was going to be a Love, Actually themed ad but seeing now grown up Thomas Brodie-Sangster didn’t register to me and than even when Martine McCutcheon shows up you really are only sharing that you weren’t able to get Hugh Grant.
3. Maybe it’s Rom Coms
There is nothing wrong with this trend. I approve.
4. Charmed I’m Sure.
The 60 Second cut of this Charm Diamond Centres ad is staggering. The James Blond character is mesmerizing. I can’t stop watching this.
5. Random Hot Dog Content
I love that brands, in this case Amtrak are doing wild little takes like this. I’m not even sure what this means. But hot dog content is underated.
Thanks for reading. And drinking. See you next week.
